Whitefield, George

<<evangelist>>

George (1714-1770) along with the Wesley brothers (John and Charles), is credited with founding the Methodist church. He was renowned for his open-air preaching and evangelism, thus being instrumental in the Great Awakenings in Britain and North America.

He is quoted as saying, “It is a poor sermon that gives no offence; that neither makes the hearer displeased with himself nor with the preacher’.
