Voodoo

Also spelt vodou. A black, religious cult practised in the Caribbean and the southern USA, combining elements of Roman Catholic ritual with traditional African magical and religious rites. It is characterized by sorcery and spirit possession – believing mysterious evil forces or powers govern the lives of people who try to connect with nature, spirits and departed ancestors through ritual ceremonies. Voodoo is incompatible with Christianity, as its practices and beliefs are contrary to God’s Word.
