This is a pivotal, non-negotiable truth of Christianity

reject the divine nature of Jesus, the sinful nature of humans, and the inspiration of the Word of God. However, without the virgin birth, there would be no sinless Christ and no salvation for sinners.

Mary, the mother of Jesus remained a virgin till after He was born, having become pregnant by the miraculous activity of the Holy Spirit, as prophesied almost 700 years before. She was simply a ‘vessel’ used of God (Isa 7:14; Mt 1:18-25; Lk 1:26-38). God, who created the universe, had the power to create a baby in a virgin’s womb. Termed the incarnation it is when the eternal Son of God took on human flesh but not the sin nature; He was fully God and fully man at the same time (Jn 1:14; 1 Tim 3:16; Heb 2:14-17, 7:26). The Virgin Birth avoided the transmission of the sin nature and allowed the eternal God to become a perfect man. Jesus who became our Savior had to be genuinely human and truly sinless in order to be our perfect substitute and pay our penalty of guilt (Heb 9:14; 1 Pet 1:18,19).

Jesus stands uniquely parallel to Adam; both are representatives, whose actions have consequences for others. Normal human birth would produce another sinner just as Adam was (1 Cor 15:22; Rom 5:12-21). In contrast, through Jesus comes righteousness and life to all those who are in Christ. By a sinful man came spiritual death, by a sinless man came the opportunity for spiritual life.
