Theory
Theory is a set of ideas that is intended to explain facts or events as possibly true but that is not known or proven to be true.
Do I know I am saved or just hope so?
Jn 14:6, 17:3; Act 4:12). The Bible records, "I know who I have believed and am convinced He is able to keep what I have committed unto Him...That you may know you have eternal life" (2 Tim 1:12; 1 Jn 5:13). This is not a 'hope so' but a certain fact with many people down through the centuries being so convinced in their hearts that they have been prepared to die for Christ rather than deny Him.
Our beliefs should be provable from the Bible, anchored in the truth of Scripture not based on myths or clinging to the opinions and speculations of fallible humanity (1 Tim 1:3,4; 2 Tim 4:4: Heb 6:19). Do not be deceived and accept human theories, ideas and predictions as being trustworthy while questioning or dismissing the Word of God.
God desires all people come to recognise Him for He reveals His love to humanity for while we were sinners Christ died for us and wants
all people to be saved, yet unfortunately because He will not override our free will this will not be the case (Josh 4:24; Ps 145:12; Rom
5:8; 1 Tim 2:4).
Merely to know about a thing is not sufficient. A Christian theorist will make little headway in spiritual living – it must be applied. The principle or lesson must be outworked in the real world. Knowing about a concept or discussing its value is only the first step – the outworking is the all-important next step; we are told to "be doers the Word" (Jas 1:22).
The humanistic theory of evolution considers complex living creatures and humanity to have developed from simpler forms of life. This is in contrast to the Bible's teaching that God created humans in His image (Gen 1:27).
