Renounce

We are to abandon our old sinful lifestyle and embrace the new life in Christ; He is our Master and Lord. Real conversion is a total transformation, a turning from the past way of living, independent of Jesus, to walking in agreement with Him. The Bible says, those who confess and renounce their sin find mercy (Prov 28:13). It is essential to renounce any involvement in wrong spiritual practices.

God said to the Israelites, “Repent! Turn from your idols and renounce all your detestable practices” (Ezek 14:6). Similarly Jesus states, “Any of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciple” (Lk 14:33). We can’t just add Him to our collection of interests, He must be our highest priority with no other competing person or thing (Ex 20:3). Scripture says, "Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness..." (Eph 5:11).
