Makeup
“Perfume brings joy to the heart” (Prov 27:9; SOS 1:3). However, “charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting” so “a good name is better than fine perfume” (Prov 31:30; Eccl 7:1). We humans often put undue attention on the visible sensory body, neglecting the ‘real us’ within (1 Sam 16:7).
Although ladies generally like to dress attractively, with appropriate accessories and makeup, the emphasis should be on the inner qualities
of heart and character which bring glory to God rather than undue attention to the outward appearance (1 Tim 2:9,10; 1 Pet 3:3-5). There
needs to be the right perspective – the outer additions enhancing the inner
Makeup should be pleasing and attractive but not provocative
foundational character qualities. Undue time and money focused on the external indicates the priorities are out of balance.
