Existence of God
<<reality of God>>
The Bible always assumes its readers and hearers believe in the existence of God, claiming it is only a fool who doesn’t believe in God (Ps 14:1). The Bible matter-of-factly states, “In the beginning God...” (Gen 1:1; Jn 1:1). We can’t put God in a box, stating ‘this is God’ but evidence overwhelmingly leads to the conclusion there is a master-mind behind it all, and to whom we are accountable (Rom 14:12; Heb 4:13).
Unbelievers suppressed the truth. “They know God’s righteous orders” in their conscience but ignore them, disregarding God’s invisible qualities of eternal power and divine nature typified by whatever is good and beneficial (Rom 1:18-20, 32). By acknowledging there is a God, we are obligated to relate to Him and obey His directives. By denying God's existence, unbelievers create their own gods. They hope there is no supreme God, no accountability and therefore no judgment.
Although we can’t physically prove God exists, the evidence confirms He does
complex universe came about by itself, ignoring even the evidence of God’s handiwork as seen in the heavens let alone in humans, the pinnacle of creation who are made in the image of God (Gen 1:26,27; Ps 19:1-6, 139:14). Christians believe in the Creator who purposefully and deliberately created everything, and established this amazingly intricate universe. Even though God is so powerful, He desires an intimate relationship with humanity and puts His Spirit within each person who acknowledges they are a sinner and turns to Him as Saviour (2 Cor 1:22). The reality is proved genuine as “The Spirit witnesses with our spirit that we are God’s children” (Rom 8:16). “Without faith it is impossible please God…we must believe He exists and rewards those who seek Him” (Jn 20:29; Heb 11:6).
Apologetics uses rational arguments to demonstrate His existence. An example is, if a house has a builder, creation must have a creator. However, believing in His existence does not result in salvation, as even the devils believe God is real – salvation is acknowledging personal sin, turning from it and receiving through faith Christ’s forgiveness, resulting in a changed lifestyle (Rom 8:13; Jas 2:19).
Agnostics are not sure if God exists while atheists strongly deny He does.
