Stroking soothingly or lovingly, especially in romantic intimacy can be a forerunner to sexual activity between married couples.

Any affection during courtship must be limited so the passions aroused do not override the restraints of abstinence from intercourse before marriage. The Bible states, “there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality or of any kind of impurity…because these are improper for God’s holy people” (Eph 5:3). While specific behaviours are not mentioned, anything that is doubtful should be avoided until married (Rom 14:23).
